“ I travelled to Sri Lanka will SLV Global in the summer on the 5 weeks advance placement. Before I left for Sri Lanka the SLV Global portal made preparing for the trip feel stress free. They gave me a check list of the things I needed to organise (e.g. visa, injections) and take with me. I would highly recommended SLV Global to anyone looking to gain valuable experience both in a clinical settings and in the wider community with a variety of individuals. I took part in a 6 week placement in Sri Lanka and a 4 week placement in Bali and thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in the culture.

Not only have I completed a further 2 placements with SLV.Global in Sri Lanka (2018 as a peer mentor - 3 months) and in Bali (2019 as a Vol. Coordinator - 3 months), but I have also acted as an ambassador for my university, gaining some extra money whilst promoting a cause I strongly align with.

Sri Lanka is still recovering from a 25 year civil war in addition to the scars that still remain from the 2004 tsunami. For these reasons, Sri Lanka's population is in need of more psychological support.

After graduating this year in Psych I joined SLV.Global on their Sri Lanka advanced placement. I stayed for 5 weeks and was based in the Colombo. The start of the placement involved us getting training up and then we also visited some of our projects. In 2004 Sri Lanka faced a tsunami and has only recently seen the end of a 26-year civil war which brought immense suffering to the population.
